That's unfortunate

There's an advert for Premium Bonds in today's Observer. The gist of the advert is that you can buy Premium Bonds as a gift for a child. It is illustrated by a split picture of a backpack. The top half shows it hanging on a wall covered in childish images. The bottom half shows it resting in wild countryside covered in international flags, presumably implying that the early gift will finance the child's later backpacking adventures.

Unfortunately, it's right under a news item with the headline "British backpacker missing after Cambodian island beach party."

It's a shame copy editing seems to be a dying art - or possible extinct. How could anyone think that would be a good idea?
