Midsummer day in Stockholm
Jun. 21st, 2011 08:36 pmI thought as today is the summer solstice it must be midsummer day, but I´ve just been told that in Sweden, midsummer day is the Friday nearest the solstice.
All day, I´ve been thinking of a piece of music called the Swedish Rhapsody No. 1, the midsummer vigil, that often gets played on Radio 3, but I couldn´t remember the composer. Just googled it, it´s Hugo Alfven.
Feel I should stay up to watch the late light night. My cheap hotel room has no windows, so I can´t see when it gets dark. I did notice getting back from the con on Saturday night that the northern horizon was still light after midnight.
