I don't know if you've noticed, but it is Christmas this week.
I say that because public holidays tend to mess up rubbish collections. Every year, the council sends out an A5 glossy sheet giving the collection details for the coming year - which week is refuse, which is recycling. (Food waste is collected every week.) And it notes which weeks are disrupted by holidays. The latest one was delivered about two months ago and for the Christmas and New Year period, there is a whole special section on the back.
I checked this the other day and saw that for this week, collections here are a day early - Monday, not Tuesday. As it happens I only needed to put out my food waste box as there is hardly anything in my wheelie bins. (Living on my own, I don't produce enough rubbish to need to empty a bin every fortnight.)
So I put my food waste box out last night and I checked just now and it has been emptied. But there were none of the usual array of bins there either last night or just now. I wonder how many are still going to put their bins out tonight.
