Just reading American Empire: The Victorious Opposition by Harry Turtledove. On page 208 there's a scene set aboard the Remembrance, an aircraft carrier. "Somewhere off to the east lay the coast of North Carolina."

OK, it's set in an alternative universe, but at the front of the book is a handy map on North America which not only shows where North Carolina is, for those who don't know, but also shows that east and west are not reversed in this universe.
