My boomerang won't come back (yet)

So I'm returning from Australia last week and I pass the gift shop in Sydney airport and see that they have "Genuine Throwing Boomerangs" for sale at about $8 AUD. In a moment of weakness, I buy one. Now I'll have to find a deserted area of open ground to try throwing it. Wouldn't want people watching it when I first try it.
(My boomerang won't come back was the title of a song sung by the comedian Charlie Drake, as I recall. Used to keep turning up on the children's record programme on Saturday mornings on the BBC Light Programme in the early sixties. The punchline of the song, I think, was "For your boomerang to come back, first you have to throw it.")
