Why is David Brin spamming me?

I received two identical e-mails last night sent to two different versions of my e-mail address apparently coming from David Brin advertising his new book.  I wonder why.

Brian and I got these too - four emails between the two of us. Not totally unreasonable for me in person - I share at least one email list with him - but no reason for him to have four e-addresses for us. Will be interested to know what happened when someone gets round to telling us.
